Terence Coutier Massage Therapist in Geneva
Since 2014, manual therapy and listening to the body have been central to my professional journey. Over the years, my practice has evolved towards an increasingly precise, personalised approach, with particular attention to the quality of the tissues.
Touch as a starting point, listening to the body as a guiding thread.
I began my professional journey in massage in 2014. From my earliest training courses, I was deeply drawn to the richness of hands-on work: the possibility of approaching the body with precision, but also with presence, sensitivity and adaptability.
With experience, I gradually came to understand that massage could not be reduced to a sequence of techniques or an identical protocol for everyone. Every body has its own history, areas of tension, mobility, sensitivity and unique way of responding to touch.
This search for a more individualised approach gradually led me towards the study of fascia and myofascial release, and later towards Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
Technique provides direction. Listening to the body guides the session.
My way of working is based on a simple belief: touch must remain alive. The quality of a session depends as much on technical mastery as on the ability to observe, feel and adapt the treatment to the person on the table.
Over ten years of development in hands-on bodywork.
My professional journey has developed gradually, with each stage enriching and refining my understanding of the body and my way of working.
Institut Hypoténuse
I began my professional massage training at Institut Hypoténuse. This first stage allowed me to acquire the essential foundations of hands-on bodywork: quality of touch, massage techniques, practitioner positioning and adapting each session to the individual's needs.
Developing my own quality of touch
Over the years, my practice has gradually allowed me to move beyond the purely technical application of massage. My touch has become more precise, more intuitive and increasingly focused on listening to tension, mobility and the response of the tissues.
MyoFascial Energetic Release
I continued my professional development with advanced training in MyoFascial Energetic Release with Satyarthi Peloquin. This approach marked an important stage in my journey and considerably deepened my understanding of working with fascia and connective tissues.
The work combines myofascial release, precise and progressive touch, breathing, movement, mobilisation and body awareness. This training now forms an essential part of the way I approach the body.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
In Switzerland, I furthered my professional training with a course in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, undertaken as part of my professional recognition and ASCA accreditation pathway.
This discipline brings a very different dimension to my practice: a light, rhythmic, precise and structured touch that requires thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and the lymphatic system.
An integrative and personalised practice
Today, my practice brings together several complementary qualities of touch: classic massage, myofascial release and manual lymphatic drainage. I always choose the rhythm, pressure and depth of the work according to the individual, their body and their needs at that moment.
Sensitive and deep bodywork.
I consider every session an encounter. The work begins with listening: to your expectations, but also to what your body expresses through its tensions, breathing, mobility and the quality of its tissues.
Some bodies need gentleness and space above all. Others allow for more progressive and deeper work. My role is to find the most appropriate quality of touch, without imposing a depth that the body is not ready to receive.
Technique remains essential, but it becomes truly meaningful when it can adapt to the person, rather than the other way around.
Three complementary approaches.
They differ in rhythm and depth, but share the same commitment to precision, presence and adaptability.
Classic Massage
A personalised massage combining fluidity, relaxation, precise movements and work adapted to areas of tension.
Myofascial Release
Progressive work with fascia and connective tissues, aimed at encouraging greater mobility, flexibility and a sense of space within the body.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
A gentle, precise and rhythmic approach focused on supporting the natural functioning of the lymphatic system.
Respecting the body's rhythm.
Whatever approach is used, I strive to create a space where the body can be worked with respect, attention and gradual progression. Pressure is never an end in itself: the quality of touch and the tissue's response always remain the priority.
The body speaks. My work begins by listening.
Since 2014, I have continued to develop my practice with the same curiosity: to better understand the body, refine my touch and offer an increasingly precise and personalised approach.
